AVION TAKES FLIGHT AGAIN. The California band Avion took a different
road to make their name in the music industry. Early this year, the
group hit the road in an R-V to bring the songs from their self-released,
self-titled debut to radio stations around the country. The stations
took notice and the band's song, "Seven Days without You,"
started getting some
airplay, which in turn caught the eye of Columbia Records, who signed
the band and just this week re-released their debut album. But frontman
Steve Bertrand says the lucky few who picked up the first disc have
a good reason to go check out the re-release. (Actuality #1) "This
record has a new song on it. It's been completely remixed by Dave Way,
who's amazing - did like the last Sheryl Crow record. And, it's all
been repackaged. So, it's kind of cool. We printed up a few thousand
copies of the first version just for, you know, to get it out there
and try to make a little bit of a story happen. So for those people,
hopefully it will be like a collector's item."
Steve Bertrand
and Avion are currently out on the road opening for Everclear. That
tour plays New York tonight. If you can't make it to the Big Apple,
check AvionMusic.com to see if they're coming to your town.
