Order, Strokes, Cure Rock For 'Marie Antoinette' September 05, 2006, 3:40 PM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Marie Antoinette set France on its ear in the 1770s, but the upcoming film about her life features a decidedly more modern soundtrack. Due Oct. 10 via Verve Forecast, the double-disc set features previously released tracks from New Order, the Strokes, the Cure, Gang Of Four and Windsor for the Derby. The film, directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst as the title character, opens Oct. 20. Of perhaps most interest to listeners will be remixes of Bow Wow Wow's "I Want Candy" and "Fools Rush In" by reclusive My Bloody Valentine mastermind Kevin Shields. The artist was brought on board by music supervisor Brian Reitzell, who coaxed new music out of him for the 2003 soundtrack to Coppola's "Lost in Translation." Also included on the soundtrack are tracks from Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, the Radio Dept., Siouxsie and the Banshees and, as previously reported, Air.
