MARGARET CHO
DEADLY

by: Lisa Steinberg

Q. What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?

A. Right now I am doing a television show for Lifetime and it's called "Drop Dead Diva" and it's a show about a model who dies and returns in the body of a lawyer who is very, very smart but is kind of insecure about her looks. I think it's a great show and it's a very exciting project. I am also working on a comedy album of songs, there are a lot of different projects happening.

Q. What can you tell us about your character on Terry on the show?

A. She is the assistant to the lawyer who died, she doesn't know that she died, she sort of was involved in this accident where she has a lot of amnesia so she's helping her deal with it. It's a fun part, it's an interesting part, it's very exciting to be someone that's that integral and helps out.

Q. What made you want to be a part of the show?

A. I really loved the spirit of it and the subject matter. Something that I talk a lot about in my standup comedy is body issues and weight issues and this idea of feeling beautiful as being a political act, but we can actually find ourselves beautiful and that we are able to have a lot of power, political power specifically. I think it's a really great thing and that's why I wanted to do it.

Q. Is there anything about the role that you have found challenging?

A. I think that the only thing that I have found challenging is that I had to relocate to do the whole show. I had to move to Atlanta, Georgia to do the whole show and that was kind of challenging and different. It's a good thing and I am happy to do it and the show is really great so it's really worth it.

Q. Where do you draw from for your portrayal of Terry?

A. No, I just sort of do it like I do it. I don't really act that much to be acting, I just do it to be myself all the time. I don't really do a character, I'm just myself. I'm just playing myself all of the time.

Q. There is wonderful cast chemistry on the show. Has this come naturally or did it take some time to develop?

A. It's pretty instant, we're all really close friends, we've all become like a family. We're really close and we all hang out after the show. I think because we're all living on location, we're all in each others lives so much. The majority of us live in the same building so we could probably have a reality show going during the day while we're doing the show.

Q. You mentioned relocating to Peachtree City in Georgia. Are there any places you really enjoy frequenting?

A. There is no place to hang out, it's not really conducive to night life per se. It's kind of a retirement community so it's a little quiet.

Q. What do you think it is about the show that will draw viewers in?

A. I think it's a great show and that it is real and I think it's a really human experience. I think it's good to see people with real bodies, women with not Hollywoodized bodies, but people with actual real bodies. We talk a lot about body issues and weight and I think those things need to be discussed and I think it's a great format to do that.

Q. You had a wonderful reality show on VH1, any chance for a second season?

A. Oh I loved that show! I don't think so, I would love to do it again, but there is no time really because I am doing these other things but I would love to revisit that. I thought it was such a great reality show and we got to really push the envelope and do a lot of great things. I would love to get to do something like that in the future.

Q. You're known for your hilarious stories about your mom, any recent ones you can share?

A. Actually I haven't seen her because she's been in Korea for most of the last part of the year.

Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A. That I love them and I just want to continue to do good stuff and good work and I am going to try harder to be better and thank you for everything.
