A Heart Is A Spade Interview: Margaret Cho
By Matt | Published: October 21, 2010

1. How has the new tour been treating you?

It’s been phenomenal. I love the show and there have been lots of fantastic surprise guests along the way. It’s my most ambitious show to date and I am really thrilled about it.

2. What was the most exciting part about recording Cho Dependent?

Getting to sing a song with Fiona Apple that I wrote with Patty Griffin. Amazing!

3. What are your thoughts on the Tea Party movement?

Peachtree City, GA – where I shoot Drop Dead Diva (my TV show), is considered the Tea Party capital of the South – that’s intense! Not just the Tea Party but the Southern Tea Party! I feel like they are really obnoxious and loud because they are a culture that is disappearing fast and feel they need to make an impact with outrageous tactics. But it’s a dying breed.

4. What are your favorite albums of the year?

Together by The New Pornographers, Sainthood by Tegan & Sara, Forgiveness Rock Record by Broken Social Scene.

5. Are there any misconceptions that you’d like to clear up?

I am Captain Cameltoe.
