TO MARGARET CHO |
Knoxville
gets a taste of good "Cho-Manship" Written by We met Margaret Cho before her show at The Bijou Theatre.. Of course I figure since she's 5'5 I wouldn't wear heels.. darn it if she did not come out in some sassy platform shoes. That'll teach me. We chatted for a few about particulars and then we started rolling. Seems Cho was excited to go to J's Mega Mart on Gay Street..hmm no one told her that they closed a little over a month ago.. no wigs for Cho. Cho does enjoy our fine city though. She's been here a couple of times in the past few years. When people think of usually a stand-up comedian comes to mind, she's been performing since she was 16-years-old. Her biography is nothing to shake a stick at . . movies, TV, cable you name she has done it. The California native is on a whirlwind tour that is about to end in Atlanta, Georgia with a taping of her show "Cho Dependant" on December 12. People heading to her show will hear parts of her new CD which hit stores in August of this year. She worked with artists like Andrew Bird, Ben Lee, Ana DiFranco, Fiona Apple and Patty Griffin to name a few. One of the videos that I watched while doing my homework was I'm Sorry which Cho sings what one might call a murder ballad. You can't help but laugh at the lyrics..most comedy albums are a little hokey, but this one brings it..one laugh or brick at a time. Cho's humor is not for everybody..but I am sure that somewhere in this CD or the show people will find something to cackle at..I know I did. |
