CLEVELAND — For Trevor Hall, it’s music first — and music second.

“I’m a horrible actor,” the 23-year-old singer/song- writer from South Carolina joked. “I’ve tried to go on
a couple auditions, but it was pretty bad. Music is my thing. I’m a musician and I’d like to do as much
as possible with it, and just continue playing for as many people as I can.”

Hall recorded his first album at age 15, but didn’t get his first notable break until just three years ago
when “Shrek the Third: Motion Picture Soundtrack” was released.

“At the time, I was with Geffen Records and they were doing the soundtrack for the movie,” Hall said.
“I was with the president of the company one day when he heard my song ‘Other Ways.’ He said, ‘I
think that this song would be great for this movie.’ So he called up the producer and that was pretty
much how everything happened.”

Although Hall is no longer with Geffen, his passion for music never slowed.

In 2008, he and good friend/percussionist Chris Steele released their new album, “This is Blue.”

His latest self-titled album was released July 18 after being signed by label Vanguard Records.

The first single from the album “Unity” debuted at #199 on the Billboard 200 album chart and #7 on
the Billboard Heatseeker’s chart.

This week, Ohio fans can hear Hall’s music at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Grog Shop, 2785 Euclid Heights
Boulevard, Cleveland Heights.

At 7 p.m. Thursday, Hall will perform at The Newport, 1722 N High Street, Columbus.

“I’ll be bringing a lot of energy, and I’m very spontaneous,” he said. “Sometimes we bring people
on to the stage or go into the crowd. Each show takes on a life of its own. I like to leave people in a
better place than when they came.”
