Trevor Hall is a singer/songwriter who has made a name for himself with his deeply soulful songs and touching voice. He’s signed to Vanguard Records and has released a couple albums, most recently, a new live album, “Chasing The Flame: On The Road with Trevor Hall.” The 23-year old has been making music since he was a young boy and was signed to a record label while still in high school.

We’re so excited we got a chance to chat with the singer. Here, Trevor talks about touring and his favorite song to play…

ful: What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?
Trevor Hall: My favorite part of music is that first little moment when a song starts coming out. You’re just listening… seeing how and where it wants to go. The freshness and purity of that time is a great feeling.

ful: You have a bunch of shows coming up this summer in Canada and in the U.S. Do you have a favorite city to play in ? A favorite venue
TH: I have a few favorite cities to be in, not necessarily play. And then I have some favorite places to play but I don’t really like the city. However, some of my favorite spots on the map are Asheville, North Carolina, San Francisco, Denver, and the Pacific Northwest.

ful: Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you ever play any covers? Do you have a set play list?
TH: We usually perform Unity, Volume, and The Lime Treeevery show just because that’s what the crowd likes. We don’t usually play covers but sometimes I throw some lines in there from a favorite song of mine. Lately, we haven’t been playing with a set list… we just walk up there and call songs out. It’s a lot of fun.

ful: What’s your favorite song to play?
TH: Some of my favorite songs I like to play are Unity, My Beating Heart, and a new song called Te Amo.

ful: What’s the most unusual place you’ve ever played a show or made a recording?
TH: One time, I played at the real estate office opening party in Beverly Hills. They had no PA or anything for me. They just told me to stand in the corner and play as the party was going on. It was horrible. It was this tiny little office and all these people were bumping into me and spilling drinks on me like I wasn’t even there. It was a good ego crusher.

ful: What was the last song you wrote? Can you tell us about it?
TH: I just wrote a little bit of a song last night. I was laying down a little demo on my computer. It’s not done yet, but it is a really up beat song about waking up to life and living every day to the fullest.

ful: What bands are you loving right now? Who would you love to play with?
TH: I’ve really been into this reggae band lately called Groundation. They play roots reggae, which is my favorite type of reggae, but they add this awesome jazz element at the same time. It is also really spiritual music. I have to admit:)… I’ve also been listening to a lot of Rihanna lately. Don’t hate on me, but she is good and pretty.

ful: What advice do you have for people who want to give it a go in the music industry?
TH: My advice is to play live as much as possible. It doesn’t matter where or for who. Playing live teaches you so much about yourself, your music, and how to relate to all different kinds of people.

ful: You are pretty active on Twitter. Has the Internet/social networking helped your band gain exposure and fans? Do you like Twittering? Are you following anyone you consider a guilty pleasure?
TH: The internet has definitely helped get the word out there… but in the end, I think it is all about live music. That is what will last forever. As for twittering, I kind of only twitter when I’m on the road. I find it a little ridiculous to twitter things like, “Going to the mall now” or “I just ate a sandwich and it was good.”
