CONTINUE THE WALK TOUR WITH BRAND NEW DATES BEGINNING APRIL 9 BAND TO PARTNER WITH TOMS SHOES FOR CUSTOM “GREAT DIVIDE” SHOE – One mile Barefoot Walks before each concert to continue. Tulsa, OK –April 2008— With HANSON’s fourth studio album, The Walk, which debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Independent Chart, the band has announced a 3rd leg of The Walk Tour . A complete list of dates is listed below. “We want to inspire others to look for simple tangible ways to make a difference. It is easy to be halted by the great hurdles of poverty and AIDS, but making an impact can begin as simply as giving someone a pair of shoes, or buying a song.” - Taylor Hanson Beginning April 9th, HANSON will embark on the next leg of their The Walk Tour in support of their latest album, The Walk, and continuing their commitment to fighting poverty and AIDS in Africa, an effort that began with their trip to Africa to record the charity single, "Great Divide". Their efforts grew as they launched their one mile barefoot walks before each concert joined by thousands of fans and supporters, walking 48 miles across North America on the Fall 07 tour. The goal was to help provide TOMS shoes to Children in Africa. TOMS Shoes starts with a simple idea - if you buy a pair of shoes, founder Blake Mycoskie will donate an equal pair to a deserving child. To date, TOMS have donated 58,000 pairs of shoes and last November HANSON joined them on their second shoe drop, delivering a whopping 50,000 pairs of shoes to children in Africa! . Now, HANSON are launching their own custom TOMS “Great Divide” Shoe. Included with every pair of shoes sold is a download card for their song “Great Divide”, as well as a special acoustic recording. The proceeds from the downloads will go to help HIVSA, an HIV research hospital in Soweto, South Africa. By purchasing these special shoes, not only are you giving a free pair of shoes to a child in need, you are helping to prevent the mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS. To order your shoes, visit
www.tomsshoes.com. As a special bonus, for the duration of The Walk
Tour enter the code 'HANSON' when you reach the checkout page, and you
will receive a $7 discount off your order! HANSON will also continue their one mile barefoot walks with fans, coinciding with their concerts across the US. The exact location of each day’s walk will be announced on hanson.net 3 hours in advance (if you participate in the 1 mile walk, you’ll get to “jump the line” for the concert that night so you don’t need to worry about losing your place!) Further details on purchasing tickets can be found at: www.hanson.net. Here’s a list of cities/venues
where you can catch HANSON perform on The Walk Tour:
Supporting HANSON on this tour will be indie rockers Stephen Kellogg
and The Sixers and Kate Voegele (first artist signed to MySpace Records).
The Walk follows the 2004 debut release on their 3CG label, Underneath, which went to #1 on the Billboard Independent chart, producing the #2 single, “Penny and Me,” a Top 10 in the U.K. as well. The band’s 1997 debut, Middle of Nowhere, sold more than 4 million albums in the U.S., thanks to the chart-topping hit, “MmmBop,” which U2’s Bono has called “one of my favorite songs of all time.” The group received three Grammy nominations that year, including Best New Artist and Record of the Year. LA Times praised the CD, “”The Walk” is intelligent mainstream rock with a soulful influence. These brothers must be seen live,” and Billboard described it as “an iconic American sound.”
