The
Lashes By Chris Nelson
Thankfully, what we do have is “Sometimes the Sun,” the Lashes’ latest single and appetite-whetter for their forthcoming major label debut, Get It. Clocking in at just over three minutes, “Sometimes” is the very definition of a pop song, with tight structure, lovelorn lyrics and a hook that’s guaranteed to stick with you for days. It’s also the kind of track that works its way into your gray matter and finds its way onto every mixtape you make for a six-month period - mixtapes that may or may not be addressed to a certain someone. The Lashes keep it ambiguous as frontman Ben croons “sometimes the sun goes down / sometimes it comes back up” in a lilting, dulcet tone reminiscent of a young Morrissey or the Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. Regardless of what the sun’s up to, it’s pretty obvious that the Lashes are on the rise. |
