KONGOS RUNAWAY SMASH “COME WITH ME NOW” GOES PLATINUM
PERFORMED THIS MORNING ON NBC’S “TODAY SHOW”
NEW SINGLE "I'M ONLY JOKING" REACHES TOP 20 AT ALTERNATIVE RADIO
Their runaway smash, "Come With Me Now", just went platinum, exceeding digital sales of 1,000,000 in the United States. It also continues to gain steam daily across radio airwaves. In addition to spending a staggering five weeks at #1 on Alternative Radio and achieving the quickest ascent to the chart's peak by a new band in history, the track vaulted to #13 at Top 40 and holds #17 at Hot AC, officially making it a cross-format hit. "Come With Me Now" is the lead-off single from the group's 2014 full-length Lunatic (Epic Records).
Moreover, the song's impact can be felt virtually everywhere. As "one of the most synced songs of the year", it has been used by Ram Trucks, Samsung Galaxy, American Idol, The Originals, MTV Movie Awards, HBO, FX, CNN, NBC Sports, ESPN, NFL, WWE, Playstation 4 and more.
Now, not only does it fuel the high-octane trailer for one of summer's most anticipated films, The Expendables 3, but it also appears in the movie during a key sequence. Its propulsive percussion and powerful chant remain both instantly unforgettable and effusively energetic.
Following Late Night With Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this summer, they just hit the stage this morning at NBC's The Today Show to give a rousing performance of the "Come With Me Now". Watch it here: http://www.today.com/toyotaconcertseries/kongos-perform-come-me-now-today-1D80062796
Lunatic has yielded another anthem with "I'm Only Joking". The album's second single just shot to the Top 20 at Alternative Radio this week and quickly climbing to the top.
Already heralded by Rolling Stone as one of 10 New Artists You Need To Know and by USA Today as an artist “On The Verge,” KONGOS spent May as VH1’s “You Oughta Know” artist for the month.
KONGOS, who are the sons to popular ’70s South African/British singer-songwriter John Kongos recently hit huge on South African airwaves, thanks to a slew of radio hits off Lunatic and extensive touring across the country. The brothers are multi-instrumentalists, with Dylan and Jesse handling vocals live and playing bass and drums respectively onstage. Eldest brother Johnny plays accordion and piano, while Danny is on slide and regular guitar .
