Happy new year! We're still here, bringing concerts to your small screen.

Artists from all over the country are continuing to perform live without leaving their homes. It's a necessity as many music venues remain shut down in the face of increasing coronavirus cases.

Indie artists, many of whom have lost most if not all of their income, have been hit particularly hard. Livestreaming has become more important than ever. And we're to showcase some of the best performers in Houston and beyond.

Peppermint joins us for a performance at 11 a.m. Friday at the Preview from the Houston Chronicle Facebook page. The trans singer and actress is best-known as the "RuPaul's Drag Race" Season 9 runner-up. But she's been up to a lot since then.

She was the first trans woman to originate a lead role on Broadway in the musical "Head Over Heels." She appeared on the TV shows "Pose," "God Friended Me" and "Deputy." And she uses her platform to speak on her experiences as a Black trans woman.

"A Girl Like Me" was released in November and is the first in a trilogy of EPs. She'll perform songs from it exclusively for us.
